Beth & Nathan
Part 1
‘I’m runnin’ out of patience, tired of immitation, lookin’ for someone to replace your heart…’ Nathan sang.
I smiled. I loved him. And the best thing was, he loved me too. We’d only become boyfriend and girlfriend on Saturday, and now here we were, on Monday at the recording studio, acting like we’d been together for ages.
The song ended and I start applauding, as did everyone else in the room.
‘Okay boys, out you come.’ Jayne smiled.
They nodded, coming out into the little waiting room, where we went as well. Nathan came over to me immediatly, wrapping his arms around my waist.
I could feel his breath on the back of my neck. I leaned back, so that i was resting on him, but still standing upright.
Big Kev opened the door, and we started walking, Nathan grabbed my hand and swung our arms back and forth as we walked.
‘See ya Beth!’ the boys grinned, getting into the band.
Nathan turned to face. ‘Bye.’ he smiled. He pulled me toward him and kissed me on the lips.
And then he pulled away, grinning and getting into the van. I waved stupidly, watching them drive off. I loved being Nathan’s girlfriend.
Part 2
I dropped my bag next to the door. Alesha would still be out around now, so i had the flat to myself. I stuck the kettle on, and the radio.
‘And here it is, the new single from The Wanted, it’s All Time Low.’ The radio presenter said. I smiled, pouring milk in the mug and getting the tea bags.
I sang along, and remembered when they shot the video. I had been allowed on set, and had stood and watched them all day from, 5 in the morning till about 3 in the afternoon. It had been amazing.
As the song finished, i switched the radio off and moved into the living room. I switched ITV on, and there they were, on This Morning.
‘And which of you are single, and which are taken?’ Holly asked.
‘Erm, they’re single.’ Nathan said, pointing to Jay, Max and Tom. ‘And, we’ve got girlfriends.’ He gestured to him and Siva.
I smiled. I felt my phone buzz in my pocket. It was my bestfriend, Amanda. Come quickly! It’s urgent! x I frowned, getting up and grabbing my bag. I left the flat, clicking the door shut behind me.
Part 3
I reached her house a few minutes later. I hammered on the door, waiting for her to answer. I heard footsteps behind the door, and then it swung open, revealing a panicked Amanda.
‘What’s wrong Mandy?’ i asked, looking around for something that could be wrong.
‘Okay, I have forty minutes to get ready, and I don’t know which dress to wear!’ she cried.
I stared at her. Was she serious? ‘The blue one.’ I said, shaking my head at her. ‘Mind if I put This Morning on? There’s something I want to watch…’
‘Sure, whatever.’ she said, running up to her room to get changed.
I watched the TV, giggling every time the presenter flirted with them, and laughing at some of their answers. And then there it was….
‘So, Nathan, what’s your girlfriend’s name?’ the presenter smiled. ‘That question comes from Holly in Birmingham.’
Nathan paused. ‘Say my name, please, say it!’ I cried. I wanted people to know we were a couple.
‘She’s, erm, well, she’s…. she won’t want to be named.’ Gah, I knew he would do that. My friends still didn’t believe i was seeing him.He could’ve just said it. I sighed, slumping down in the chair and flicking channels.
Part 4
Saturday morning, and I was stood at the mirror applying makeup, when there was a knock at the door. I skipped over and opened it.
‘Hi.’ Nathan grinned, putting his hands on my waist and kissing me.
When he pulled away, I grinned. ‘Hey.’
‘You read y to go?’ he asked me, looking behind me into the house.
‘Yep, let me just get my bag.’ I grinned, running into the house and grabbing the bag, skidding back to the doorway.
‘Come on then.’ Nathan smiled, holding out his hand and pulling me along. We walked straight past the car.
‘Are we not driving?’ I asked, frowning, and putting ym cr keys back in my bag.
‘Nope.’ Nathan smiled. ‘We’re walking.’ I was still frowning. ‘I want everyone to see how beautiful you are, and how much I love you.’
I grinned. He interlocked our fingers, and swung our hands backwards and forwards slightly. I could hear cameras clicking as we got closer to the town centre, and eventually I saw the flashes.
‘How you doing?’ Nathan asked.
‘Erm….’ I trailed off. To be perfectly honest, I wasn’t liking the paps in my face.
‘Come on, in here.’ Nathan said, ducking into a shop and pulling me with him.
Part 5
It was a jewellry shop, full of silver and gold and diamonds.
I spun round slowly, looking at all the jewellry. Necklaces, bracelets, rings, watches, earrings - there was all sorts of stuff.
I came up to a little glass case, full of rings, and one caught my eye.
It was a slim, silver band, with a lilac heart on top. It was gorgeous.
Nathan appeared beside me, and saw me staring at the glass. ‘That’s pretty.’ He said.
‘Mm-hm.’ I nodded, still staring at the ring.
Nathan looked up at the man at the counter. ‘How much for it?’ He asked.
‘£19.99.’ The man replied.
Nathan handed over a twenty, and the jeweller placed the ring in the palm of his hand.
‘Here,’ he smiled, putting it on my finger. ‘A present. From me.’
I grinned, reached up, and kissed him, folding my arms around his neck, not even caring that we were in a shop, with other people - just kissing.
Part 6
So now the whole country new that I was Nathan’s girlfriend. Not like I minded.
But rumors spread quickly. Someone had spotted my ring, and now apparently me and nathan were engaged.
I was sat with the lads when it appeared on twitter. Max laughed, ‘Can I be your best man?’
‘Well in that case,’ jay said. ‘I will most deffinatley be maid of honour!’
It had been a good laugh, I suppose. But now cameras were everywhere I went, even if I wasn’t with Nathan.
One day I was leaving a shop, and as I went down the stairs, one of the papparazzi flashed the camera in my eye.
I was blinded. I tried to carry on, but I tripped, tumbling down the stairs. My head hit the floor, and then I blacked out.
Part 7
Everything was blurry. I could hear beeping behind me, which was slowly getting louder and louder. I was facing the ceiling, I thought. The ceiling itself was white, with blue flecks and cracked all over. A fluorescent yellow light flickered above me.
‘W-Where-‘
‘Ssssh.’ A voice interrupted me.
I looked around. It had come from my left. Nathan sat, clutching my hand, smiling slightly. But he still had a look of worry in his eyes.
‘Why am I h-here?’ I mumbled.
‘You fell down the stairs. Paparazzi-’ he broke off, looking annoyed. ‘But you’re okay now.’
‘How long have I been out?’ I murmured.
Nathan paused. ‘3 weeks.’
Part 8
‘You’re awake!’ Jay grinned, coming into the room.
Under different circumstances, I would’ve been happy to see him, and nattered away to them both for ages, but not this time.
‘3 weeks?!’ I squeaked.
Nathan nodded.
Jay sat down quietly, sensing that I wasn’t very happy.
‘But, it wasn’t that bad - it was just -’ I cried.
‘Pass me that.’ Nathan said to Jay, gesturing to the mirror on the table.
Jay nodded, passing it over to him.
‘Have a look at your head, Beth.’ he murmured.
I looked. It was me. My usual self. But when i looked at my forehead, there was a big red gash, which looked quite deep, and was crusting over.
‘You fell pretty hard.’ Jay muttered.
I gasped, putting my hand up to it. Nathan swatted it away.
‘Beth?’ A pretty lady smiled. ‘I’m Nurse Parkins, I need to do some checks. If all of you could please, leave.’ And with that, Jay and Nathan silently got up and left.
Part 9 - Nathan’s POV
As I walked along the corridor, I thought of a way to ditch Jay. ‘Aw, I forgot my phone charger, it’s nearly dead.’ I moaned.
Jay shrugged. ‘Go home and get it.’
I frowned. ‘But Beth…’
‘She’ll be fine.’ Jay said. ‘I’ll look after her.’
‘Thanks mate.’ I said, and walked off along a different corridor. He had practically set it up for me. Brilliant.
I got a taxi from the hospital. But I wasn’t going to our house. ‘84 Gordon Street, please, mate. East London.’ I said, and the taxi drove off.
About half an hour later, we pulled up outside the house. I payed the driver, and watched him drive away. And then I knocked on the door.
‘Becka?’ I yelled. ‘It’s me, Nath! I’m back!’
The door opened, and Becka grinned. ‘Welcome back sexy.’ she said, and pulled me inside.
Part 10 - My POV
‘Where’s Nath?’ I asked jay as he came to sit next to me.
‘He went home to get his phone charger. His phone was dead.’ He answered.
‘Oh.’ I murmured.
‘I told him to go. I promised to look after you.’ Jay smiled.
I smiled back at him, as Tom came into the room. He was frowning. ‘Where’s 84 Gordon street?’ He asked. ‘East london. Who lives there?’
Jay thought for a moment. ‘This fan, we met once, Rebecca Knight. She lives there, I think.’
‘Then why is Nathan going there?’ Tom said.
‘What?’ I asked.
Tom pressed his lips into a thin line, seeming to notice me for the first time. ‘Jay, can we…?’
Jay bit his lip, and glanced at me. Then he nodded. ‘I’ll be two minutes.’ He said, putting a hand on my knee. ‘If you need anything, jut shout.’
I nodded. He got up, and shut the door quietly, leaving me staring at the flaking paint on the walls.
Part 11
Why would Nathan be going to a fan’s house? As far as I knew he had never been to a fan’s house before.
After about half an hour of waiting for Jay and Tom to come back in, I fell asleep. When I woke up, Tom was sitting watching me.
‘Hi.’ I said quietly.
‘Tom, what - what’s going on?’ I asked.
He looked at the door, and shook his head. ‘Nothing.’
‘Where’s Jay?’ I asked.
‘He’s…he’s down in the cafe.’
‘Don’t lie to me, Tom.’ I murmured.
Tom sighed. ‘He went to find Nathan.’
I nodded, and turned to lie on my back. ‘Why is he at a fan’s house?’ I asked, looking at Tom.
Tom looked me right in the eyes. I thought he was going to give me an answer, but instead he shrugged. ‘Dunno.’
I narrowed my eyes at him, but turned my head back to the ceiling, slowly falling back to sleep.
Part 12 - Jays POV
As we drove closer to the house I thought of the many things he could be doing - but then I realised that we weren’t supposed to go to fans houses unless they’d won something.
So I stopped thinking of that, and thought of the many ways I would kill him instead.
“Wait there, please.” I said to the driver. He nodded, and opened up a newspaper, leaving me to walk quickly up the garden path and hammer on the door.
I could bear giggling form within in the house, then everything went quiet. The door opened, and Becka stood in a dressing gown. Her smile faded and she closed the door over slightly.
“Hi Jay.” She said.
“Where is he?” I asked.
She tried to act innocent. “Who?”
“Becka, I know he’s here, Tom saw him getting into the taxi and askign for this address, and I swear, if he doesn’t come out now-” I was cut off by Nathan peeking round the corner.
“Hey mate.” He murmured.
“What the hell do you think you’re doing?” I yelled at him.
He looked down at the floor.
“Beth is in hospital, where you put her by taking her out and you just go off and leave her there?” I shouted.
He looked back up at me, and nodded. “I’m - I’m sorry. Let me get dressed, and then I’ll come back with you and-“
“No.” I said. “Just fuck off.” I turned on my heel and walked down the path, and got into the taxi. “Back to the hospital, please, mate.” I said.
Nathan took a step out of thehouse and yelled, “Jay! Wait! Mate, come on!”
But I told the driver to ignore him, and carry on towards the hospital.
