Sarah & Nathan

Part 1

I was nervous. Very nervous. My first day at the Sylvia Young Theatre School, and I knew no one. We had only moved over to England from America a month ago, and I hadn’t had time to meet new people yet. To be perfectly honest, I missed America.

And then I saw him. A boy at the end of the corridor, about 16, the same age as me, with brown hair and green eyes smiled as he walked with his mates. As the got closer, I looked at him more, and saw how utterly gorgeous he was.

I felt a tap on my shoulder. I spun round. ‘Hi.’ I girl smiled at me. She was small, with ginger hair and blue eyes, and freckles across her nose. ‘I’m Gabby. I’ve never seen you here before. Are you new?’

The boy had gone. I had missed him. ‘Yeh, I’m new. I’m Sarah.’ I smiled.

‘Oh my god, love your accent, where are you from?’ Gabby asked.

‘California.’ I smiled nervously.

‘Wow!’ Gabby gasped. ‘You have to tell me all about it!’ she said, leading me into the cafeteria and siting down at a table, letting me talk for ages about home.

‘Oh my god, you are by far the ebst person I’ve met at this shool.’ Gabby grinned.

I laughed. I had made a friend. I was glad, but I was still searching for that boy. And there he was again, at a table further down. ‘Who’s that?’ I asked.

Gabby turned. ‘Nathan.’ she giggled., biting her lip. ‘Most girls have had a crush on him before, some of them are still crushing on him now. But-‘

She was cut off when a girl with long, blonde hair swishing to her waist went up and kissed Nathan.

‘-He has a girlfriend.’ Gabby finished, pulling a face.

He grinned at her, hugging her, talking to her, and then kissing her again. I watched as she left, and he sat there, smiling like the sex god he was. I felt like I had been stabbed through the chest.

I sighed, grabbing my bag as the bell rang, and me and Gabby went off to lessons.

Part 2

Gabby and me entered the already full Maths class, and I realised that there wasonly one seat left, right at the back, next to Nathan Sykes.

I bit my lip, throwing down my bag and sitting down. I tried to pay attention to the class, and then i felt a note hit my hand.

I looked down. Are you new here? It was from Nathan. I looked at him, and nodded.

He nodded too, taking back the piece of paper and writing something.

He passed it back,it read I though so. I would’ve recognised a pretty face like yours.

I smiled in spite of myself. I looked up at him, and he winked. He was about to write something else, when the teacher yelled, ‘Sykes! The answer please?’

‘4x10 to the power of 9.’ he answered, as if he had been paying attention the whole time.

That was the end of the note swapping session, but i couldn’t think straight. Had Nathan Sykes been flirting with me? He couldn’t have, I must’ve read it wrong, he had a girlfriend, a really beautiful girlfriend, he wouldn’t be flirting with me.

Or would he?

Part 3

I told Gabby everything. She nodded, actually taking me seriusly. She read the note, and listened to me ranting on, ‘…but seriously, why would he want to flirt with me? His  girlfriend is gorgeous, and he obviously loves her, and-‘

‘Actually, that isn’t quite true.’ Gabby murmured.

‘What?’ I asked, looking at her and frowning.

‘Well, Lola Davids told me that he was starting to get sick of her, and that he was going to dump her before Mark Watson’s party on Friday.’

‘Oh my god, seriously!?’ I said, looking over at his table from the corner of my eye. And now I could see it. Nathan barely looked at her, he looked extremely bored, and barely spoke to her.

She looked around and caught my eye, and I looked down immediatley, feeling embarrased.

‘What you going to do then?’ Gabby asked me.

‘I don’t know.’ I muttered. ‘WHat’s her name anyway?’

‘Georgina. Georgina Lyons.’ Gabby said. I nodded, not looking back incase she was looking at me.

In my mind, i was starting to form a plan. I just had to make sure it went smoothly….

Part 4

I sat on Gabby’s bed, watching her as she moved aorund her room gracefully, applying a bit of makeup, and putting things in her bag, until she was ready.

She smiled at me. ‘Come on then, let’s go.’

We arrived at the party, pushing our way through the door, and on further into the house. I looked around. There she was. Georgina was stood next to Nathan, laughing and grinning.

‘He didn’t break up with ehr. Look at them, Gab!’ I said, gesturing towards them.

‘Oh. I’m sorry honey.’ Gabby said, frowning.

‘It’s fine. It’s not like he would want me anyways.’ I muttered, taking a sip of my drink.

We walked around the house, chatting occasionally, but it seemed everywhere i went, Nathan and that bitch followed. I was utterly miserable.

‘Oo, there’s Will, I’m justgoing t go and say hello.’ Gabby said. ‘You coming?’

I shook my head. ‘I’m a bit hot. I think I’m going to go into the garden.’ Gabby frowned, but nodded, pushing in the opposite direction to me.

I sat on a bench, letting the cool air hit me. I was facing away from the house, looking down at my shoes, when i heard a soft thump beside me.

‘Hi.’ A voice said.

I looked up. Nathan smiled down at me. ‘Hello.’ I muttered, pursing my lips.

‘Why are you out here? The party’s in there.’ He smiled at me. He had an amazing accent.

‘I’m just not in the mood for a party.’ I replied, sighing slightly and looking off into the distance.

‘To be completely honest, me neither.’ he sighed. I frowned looking up at him. ‘How about we ditch this and go for a walk?’ he said.

‘Sure.’ I muttered, getting up and following him off into the night.

Part 5

We had been mostly silent on the walk home. But then we reached my house.

‘So, erm, this is me.’ I said, standing just in front of the gate.

Nathan looked up at the house behind me. ‘Nice.’ He muttered.

I looked down, smiling slightly. I felt a finger under my chin, and Nathan lifted my head on so that I could see him. He kissed me, putting a hand on waist and one on the bank of my neck.

He pulled away, and smiled.

‘I’ll see you tomorrow.’ He said, turning and walking across the street, and round the corner.

I put a hand to my lips. Nathan Sykes had just kissed me. I lant back against the gate, smiling. This was the best night of my life.

Part 6

As I walked into school with Gabby, everyone stared. I knew why. But Gabby didn’t.

‘Why are they staring, what the fuck?’ she hissed. ‘Is there something in my hair? Or on my uniform?’

‘It’s not you.’ I muttered, pushing open the door to the Spanish Class.

‘What?’ Gabby asked, but before I could explain Señora Hannot said in a clipped tone, ‘Ladies. Nice of you to join us.’

I shrugged at Gabby and took my seat.

Nathan was sat on the other side of the class, and he turned to look at me. He smiled at me, a warm, genuine smile, and turned back to the board.

The whole class turned to stare at me.

It was going to be a very long day.
